About
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences and have successfully passed the viva voce for my PhD in Nanobiotechnology. I have over three years of experience as a Healthcare Communications Executive at a medical communications agency in Malaysia, where I supported pharmaceutical clients across Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Consumer Activation. As the lead for the dengue portfolio, reporting directly to the project director, I served as the secretariat for Dengue Prevention Advocacy Malaysia (DPAM), collaborating closely with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders, government representatives, and cross-functional teams. My core competencies include medical writing, scientific literature review, stakeholder engagement, project management, proposal and budget preparation, and event management.
Within Medical Affairs, I contributed to the planning and delivery of a series of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes on dengue vaccination across six Malaysian states within a four-month period. The programme successfully increased HCPs' confidence in the vaccine and their willingness to recommend it, with positive recommendation rates rising from 46% to 82%. My responsibilities included developing workshop content and communication exercises, designing pre- and post-programme evaluation surveys, coordinating with clients, speakers, vendors, and internal teams, and ensuring all educational materials underwent compliant review and approval through the Veeva system.
I also gained valuable exposure to Market Access through the development of the Policy Recommendations for a State-Level Dengue Immunisation Programme for Selangor. This white paper was produced in collaboration with 16 medical experts from DPAM and the Selangor Public Health Advisory Council (SELPHAC), and was presented to the Selangor State Executive Councillor for Public Health after three advosiry meetings and two rounds of review over four months. My contributions included coordinating advisory board meetings involving medical experts and government stakeholders, preparing and revising policy documents based on expert feedback, identifying priority localities for the proposed pilot immunisation programme using epidemiological data, and estimating vaccination costs based on the eligible target population. This experience strengthened my ability to synthesise scientific evidence into strategic, evidence-based communications that support healthcare policy and decision-making.
In Consumer Activation, I supported the planning and execution of public awareness campaigns aimed at increasing dengue vaccine awareness and uptake. My contributions included developing scientific copy for a campaign microsite, authoring educational articles, identifying target audience profiles, and supporting the development of digital and multimedia educational content, including expert videos and medical influencer campaigns.
Across these roles, I developed strong scientific writing, evidence appraisal, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills while working in highly collaborative, client-facing environments. I am now seeking to apply these transferable skills to a career in Medical Writing, where I can continue translating complex scientific evidence into clear, accurate, and impactful medical communications.
