Senior Medical Writer (SMW)
Role overview and requirements
The core responsibilities of a Senior Medical Writer are to develop high-quality scientific content and brief/review work for junior writers, ensuring excellence throughout.
The role involves applying and overseeing the Helios editorial processes, preparing briefs for the development of scientific materials and demonstrating awareness of a product and account/client strategy while implementing this across own writing projects and in the review of work by other team members. You must be able to apply an understanding and keep up to date with relative therapy areas to act as a scientific point of contact for other team members, clients and externals experts. It is important you are able to ensure chargeable time goal is achieved, apply and provide guidance to other team members.
What we are looking for:
- MSc or PhD in a pharmacology/pharmacy, medicine, biomedical/biological sciences discipline
- We occasionally offer Senior Medical Writer roles to outstanding BSc-level candidates
- Medical writing experience within a medical communications agency (minimum, 3 years’ experience)
- Previous briefing and reviewing experience in a medical communications agency
- Very good editorial/writing skills
- Very good organisational skills
- Very good attention to detail
- Very good team-working ability
- Very good time management
- Very good problem-solving skills
- Very good communication skills
- Very good mentoring skills
